Crispy Gevrek Croutons

Sometimes, a piece of gevrek (an Izmir Word for simit) is enough to help you start a fine day.

As the sesame seeds fall from the fresh gevrek like tears without an accompanying cup of tea. If they find it each other in a breakfast tryst, you will be ravished by the flavor they create.

Of course, gevrek is best consumed fresh. However, it is still possible to save the stale gevreks with a few little tricks from getting dumped into trash and create a taste bomb of out this opportunity!

First off, cut the gevrek into pieces and place them on the baking pan after covering the bottom with a piece of bakery release paper. Pour some pure olive oil over a mixture of red pepper flakes, black pepper, salt and some garlic to your taste. Drizzle the mixture over the gevrek pieces. Put the baking pan in the preheated oven.

The stale croutons will revive in 5-10 minutes and have an amazing different taste. If you wish, you can also add some rosemary and thyme into the mixture to drizzle over the gevrek pieces that look like Frenchcroutons” and serve the stale gevrek pieces in a totally different form.

You can consume these snacks in a few days. Since there is a good chance that you’ll be addicted to this new taste, the stale gevreks that you might see in the bread box can even make you happy from now on.

Bon appétit and enjoy the taste
