Home-Made Whole Wheat Bread

Previously, I wrote about the story of “bread”, a staple food in our daily diet and told you that it is possible to bake it at comfort of your house.

It is great to start Sunday with a loaf of piping hot, crispy bread as much as it is not that great to choose the victim who’s going to go to the bakery and get that bread for you.

As a matter of fact, it is possible to make the same bread, even more delicious one at home. On top of that, you don’t need either a stone oven to bake it in or brawny arms to knead the dough.

Today, I’m going to share with you a bread recipe that you won’t believe how simple it is. You’ll see I am right when you take a bite out of that bread.

Ingredients

Wheat flour, 1 kg

Dry yeast, 1,5 dessert spoon

Brown sugar, 1 dessert spoon

Rock salt, 1 dessert spoon

Black cumin

Sesame

Oat

Olive oil

Make a sizeable crater in the center of the mound of whole wheat flour. Dissolve dry yeast and the sugar in a glass of warm water and dump it in the crater to knead it. Add the salt. Knead it while adding water into the mixture until you achieve a consistency not too soft and not too dry. (This mostly takes about 2 glasses of water)

When the right consistency is achieved, cover it with plastic wrap and leave it in a warm place for about 1 hour. The dough will rise in this process. After you let it rise enough, knead it for another 10 minutes. Grease the pan and place the dough in it. Shape the dough greasing it with olive oil. Sprinkle sesame, black cumin and oat to your taste. Place the pan into the preheated oven at 180 degrees.

Bake it till done for 45-50 minutes. I’m sure that the result will put a smile on your face when you open the oven. You will be fascinated by the smell of this home-made bread, plus it tastes as good!

As it is fat-free, you can say that this is one of those healthy recipes. In addition to that, you also add into the mixture some fried cubed onion, dried tomato, olives or rosemary to achieve a taste close to popular Italian “focaccia”.

Bear in mind that kitchen needs creativity and courage!

Bon appétit and enjoy the taste of life!
